Message from H.E. Abdi Omar Mohamud

Deputy Bureau

Culture is the foundation of identity, social cohesion, and continuity. The Somali Regional State Culture and Tourism Bureau is dedicated to preserving and promoting the cultural, linguistic, and historical heritage of the community as a central component of sustainable development.

Our work focuses on safeguarding both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. This includes documenting traditions, preserving historical records, supporting cultural institutions, and promoting indigenous knowledge systems. Through research, archiving, and awareness programs, we ensure that cultural values and practices are maintained and transmitted across generations.

Language development is a key priority in our efforts to strengthen cultural identity. We support linguistic research, development of terminology and orthographies, and promotion of the Somali language in education, administration, media, and public life. By strengthening language use, we reinforce identity and enhance social cohesion.

In addition, we promote literature, historical research, and cultural expression through support to writers, researchers, and artists. We also encourage the development of cultural industries that create opportunities for innovation and economic growth while preserving cultural integrity.

Our commitment is to ensure that culture remains a dynamic and living force that contributes to development, unity, and resilience. By linking cultural preservation with modern development approaches, we are building a future that honors our heritage while embracing progress.
